Term One Activities
Term 1 was a busy yet fantastic term for our Year 6 students. They've displayed maturity and leadership as they begin their final year of primary schooling and I am very proud and excited to be sharing this journey with them.
We had a focus on imaginative writing in English and experimented with using figurative language in our writing. Some of the final products were outstanding and the language the students were using was impressive! We read the book 'Wonder' and wrote some great pieces of writing.
"I feel as if I am a coin in an overfilled well, not knowing if I should get out or continue to hide." - Alyssa.
"I walked the halls like a celebrity, getting high fives and fist pumps." - Aaron.
"I feel like a wolf who has lost his pack but I can survive on my own." - Riley.
We covered lots of different areas in Maths including Whole Number, Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Length and Area - just to name a few!
Year 6 also worked hard in the garden to create a 'Nature Play' area for the students at our school. Every Tuesday, our Year 5 and 6 students were given the opportunity to design and build this space and what a fantastic project it was!
Our Year 6 class of leaders also led our whole school fundraiser 'Silver for Tathra' where we raised nearly $700 for the community of Tathra who was recently devastated by a bushfire. I commend all students for the compassion and determination they showed during this initiative. You should be very proud of yourselves Year 6.
I look forward to continuing our learning with a group of absolute champions! Keep up the great work Year 6.
